It’s not every day that you receive a phone call from the current Republican presidential candidate’s personal assistant. The former governor of Massachusetts wanted a gift more useful than an engraved paperweight to give out to foreign leaders on his trip to the Olympics and abroad, so he went with Field Notes notebooks inside some Corter Leather sleeves in Natural and American Bison leather. All politics aside (I’m not very political to begin with), it’s a pretty cool honor to be representing both handmade and American made goods on an international political level. 

Politics aside (on either side, I don’t even want to hear it), this is an awesome story of a small business (previously a one-man operation!) getting recognized for superior work utilizing old-school methods of craftsmanship.

The old ways have not expired! We, in our apathy and complacency, simply seek what is Easy instead of what is Good. Class and sophistication have been replaced in the modern era by the common and the superficial. Break this trend! Find and support local craftsmen, artists, and merchants, eschew mass-production where possible and embrace the old works.

As soon as I have some extra money I’m buying a Corter belt (as I need a new one anyway)!
